From install to first result
Getting started with TradingTune.
TradingTune automates the tedious part of strategy work: trying parameter combinations one by one inside TradingView's strategy dialog. This guide walks the whole flow, from installing the extension to applying your best settings and retesting them across other markets. You can finish your first optimization in a few minutes.
The full flow, step by step
- 1
Install from the Chrome Web Store
Add TradingTune to Chrome or Brave from the Chrome Web Store. It installs as a browser extension and works on top of TradingView in your browser, so there is nothing to download or run separately.
- 2
Create a free account and sign in
A free account is required to run optimizations. Signing in lets TradingTune sync your daily cycle count and account ID to the server so your free tier is tracked. Your strategies and results stay in your browser and are never uploaded, and there are no TradingView API keys involved.
- 3
Open a TradingView strategy's settings
Add a strategy to any chart in TradingView, then open its settings dialog, the same Inputs tab you would normally edit by hand. TradingTune appears right there inside the strategy dialog, so you optimize the strategy exactly where you already configure it.
- 4
Set the min, max, and step for each parameter
For every input you want to tune, give TradingTune a range: a minimum value, a maximum value, and a step size between them. The range tells the optimizer which values are worth trying. Keep ranges sensible and steps reasonable, because wider ranges and finer steps mean a much larger search.
- 5
Pick an optimization method
Choose how the parameter space gets searched. TradingTune ships seven methods and auto-selects a sensible default based on how many parameters you enabled, so you can simply start, or pick your own from brute force, random, simulated annealing, sequential, TPE Bayesian, bisection, or the bisection-then-TPE hybrid.
- 6
Start the run
Press start and TradingTune drives TradingView's backtester through the plan automatically, one parameter combination per optimization cycle. You watch it work instead of manually editing inputs and re-running hundreds of times by hand.
- 7
Read the live results table
As cycles complete, results stream into a sortable table so you can compare combinations on net profit, win rate, Sharpe ratio, max drawdown, and trade count while the run is still going.
- 8
Apply the best result
When you have found a combination you trust, apply it. TradingTune writes those parameter values straight back into the TradingView strategy's inputs, so the chart now reflects your optimized settings.
- 9
Retest the best result across assets
Use the multi-asset retest to run those same applied settings across other symbols without re-optimizing. It is a fast robustness check: settings that hold up on several markets are far more believable than ones tuned to a single chart.
Reading the live results table
Every cycle adds a row you can sort and compare. No single column tells the whole story, so weigh them together rather than chasing the biggest net profit in isolation.
- Net profit
- Total profit or loss the combination produced over the backtest period. The headline number, but never the only one worth reading.
- Win rate
- Share of trades that closed in profit. A high win rate paired with tiny wins and large losses can still lose money, so read it alongside the rest.
- Sharpe ratio
- Return earned per unit of volatility. A higher Sharpe means the gains came more smoothly, which usually points to a more comfortable strategy to actually trade.
- Max drawdown
- The largest peak-to-trough drop in equity. This is your worst-case pain on paper, and a smaller drawdown is often worth a slightly lower net profit.
- Trade count
- How many trades the combination took. Too few trades and the other metrics are mostly luck, so prefer results backed by a meaningful sample.

Free tier and Pro
Free
Run up to 10 optimization cycles per day at no cost. A free account and sign-in are required, and only your daily cycle count and account ID sync to the server. Your strategies and results stay in your browser.
Pro
Unlock unlimited optimization cycles per day, so large brute-force sweeps and long Bayesian runs finish in one sitting instead of spreading across days. See the pricing details for what Pro includes.
See what good results look like
Before you run your own, it helps to know what a strong result looks like. Browse our real strategy backtests compared to buy and hold to see optimized metrics, equity curves, and trade analysis side by side with a plain benchmark.
